Arizona Philharmonic is a professional orchestra based in Prescott, AZ that draws musicians from around the region. We will be entering our third season in 2020-2021. Peter Bay (Austin Symphony) is our principal conductor.
Our next season has been shortened yet still includes one full orchestra concert, two chamber orchestra concerts, and three chamber ensemble concerts. We are fiscally conservative in our planning, allowing our seasons to grow each year. While the number and instrumentation of concert cycles will vary from year to year, our multi-year plan envisions our season growing to four or more full orchestra concerts, several chamber orchestra concerts, and supplemental chamber ensemble concerts.
Concert cycles are compressed: typically, two rehearsals are on Friday, two rehearsals on Saturday, and a concert on Sunday. Musicians are expected to arrive to the first rehearsal fully prepared for professional performance. We arrange local housing for musicians who wish to stay in town over the weekend.
For concerts with a conductor, our 2020-2021 season pay rates are:
Note that these rates are slightly lower than we had announced prior to the COVID-19 wave and to the shortening of our season, yet they still are an increase over the 2019-2020 rates.
